Charity skydive raises £20k for RDT

Published: 17 November 2011
The last of the skydivers completed their parachute jumps for the Rainy Day Trust on November 6, bringing the final total raised to around £20,000.

The final jumpers included Deb Duncan, wife of RDT vice president Philip Duncan, Akzo Nobel's Alistair McAuley and Emma Malam of Tembe DIY, with a total of 18 volunteers taking part in the event overall.

Organiser Michael Dark said of the skydivers: "They all did extremely well. It was a beautiful sunny morning and they had fabulous conditions."

Six people have already signed up to jump again next year, with the charity skydive set to become an annual event in the Rainy Day Trust calendar.

Mr Dark, who was one of the first to jump back in September, added: "It was a real success and it's something we're going to do again, possibly in September. It's an amazing experience."
