Council tenants being offered free DIY courses at B&Q - and being given £400 vouchers to spend at B&Q as well. What's your take on that?

Another instance of small independent retailers being frozen out?

Or a praiseworthy example of the market leader behaving as a market leader should, helping to convert non-DIY consumers into DIYers – and thus into potential future customers for all DIY retailers?

Council Tennants

This shows the real Market Leaders edge, a bold step that shows that true innovation is not outdated in the UK.
This will hopefully lead to stimmulate new DIYers and to resurect some of the old school that have stopped doing it themselves for whatever reason and be a catalyst for further spends with B&Q and other independants

Council Tenants

Excellent Marketing by B&Q; we just have to hope that;
The vouchers have a catch spend so much to save so much
Once the vouchers are used the local independent is back in with a chance one the Tenants are spending their own money
The initiative increases the number of potential customers
