Talking to exhibitors during the first day of Totally DIY, the collective view seems to be: it could have been worse.
That's not a criticism of the show - far from it. But everyone knew that Totally's (involuntary and enforced) move to Hall 16 wasn't going to do the show any favours in terms of crossover visitors from Spring Fair; and then came the snow, which lowered their expectations even further. In the event, a fair few retail buyers made it despite the weather, and despite the lack of signposting to Hall 16 from elsewhere in the NEC. The weather forecast still isn't good, but the main roads to the NEC are clear - so it's fingers crossed for day two...
