BHS inquiry kicks off as owner cries witch hunt
The investigations into why BHS failed have revealed that Mr Chappell had previously been made bankrupt in 1992, 2005 and again in 2009 according to reports from the BBC and the Sunday Times. Mr Chappell's Retail Acquisitions business bought BHS for just £1.

The retailer's pension fund is under particular scrutiny as it has a deficit of £571m. BHS' former owner Sir Philip Green has also agreed to answer MPs' questions next month.

The investigation into BHS is being conducted jointly by the Work and Pensions and the Business committees.
