As part of its series of events on the future of the construction industry taking place in 12 countries, with the participation of an array of local experts, the organisers of BATIMAT, the international construction trade show, are pleased to invite industry professionals to a panel discussion at The Building Centre, in central London, on 30 June 2022. The event will also give participants an unrivalled preview of LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT, the premier trade show for the construction industry taking place in Paris (France) from 3 to 6 October 2022.

LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT is Europe’s leading exhibition for building materials and solutions, focusing on the construction industry of today and tomorrow. It will take place in early October 2022 (3 to 6 October) in Paris (France). This year, LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT will include three trade shows: BATIMAT, IDEOBAIN and INTERCLIMA, offering a unique insight into trends as well as challenges characterising the construction industry in 2022. BATIMAT discusses the construction industry’s future at London event

The London event, at the end of June 2022, will feature eminent speakers such as Elaine Toogood, Director, Architecture and Sustainable Design, at The Concrete Centre; Cassion Castle, Director and Founder of Cassion Castle Architects; and, among other participants, Guillaume Loizeaud, Building Divison Director for BATIMAT.

Following the Paris Agreement on climate change of 2015, the UK became the first major world economy to pass laws to bring down all greenhouse gas emissions to Net Zero by 2050.

Construction is fast becoming a key area of interest, primarily due to the fact that it is estimated to contribute between 20% and 40% of the UK's total carbon footprint, while construction activities themselves are said to generate approximately 10% of the UK’s emissions directly. Therefore, the industry faces an unprecedented challenge and will need to innovate as well as make substantial changes and large investments, including the deployment of novel technologies that do not exist yet.

On 30 June 2022, at The Building Centre, in the heart of London, our speakers will share their views and experiences in implementing low-carbon solutions in the construction sector.

?Venue: The Building Centre, 26 Store St, London, WC1E 7BT (Tel.: 020 7692 4000). Further information is available here: https://www.buildingcentre.co.uk/

LE MONDIAL DU BÂTIMENT 2022: an exclusive programme of talks mapping out the sector’s future

LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT is Europe’s exhibition of reference for building materials and solutions: it puts the spotlight on the construction industry of today and tomorrow. In 2022, this unique trade event will take place in early October (from 3 to 6 October) in Paris (France).

With 14 exhibition areas across three trade shows – BATIMAT, IDEOBAIN and INTERCLIMA – and 1,000 speakers, and with 450 talks and events over four days, for its return to Porte de Versailles (Paris), LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT is going big. An exclusive programme of talks will provide professionals and key players in the sector with a 360° view of the industry’s main challenges and trends, analysed and explained by keynote speakers from a range of fields. There will be brand-new discussion formats to tackle the big issues: Protecting the Climate and the Environment; Good City Living in 2050; Improving Ways of Working; and, finally, Championing the Professions.

“Construction professionals are staring down a formidable challenge. It will be their responsibility to enable France to achieve a successful transition, particularly when it comes to the decarbonisation of the construction process. Faced with this urgency and such immense responsibility, we wanted to upgrade the talks programme at LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT by bringing together all the sector’s key players, as well as a wide range of inspiring names from other industries. You could say this will be the Davos of the construction sector. The talks programme for this year’s LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT will be bigger and better than ever, with a wider range of speakers and topics discussed. The topics will cover the entire spectrum of the sector’s challenges by placing them within a broader economic, political, environmental, societal and social-responsibility context,” says Guillaume Loizeaud, Director of LE MONDIAL DU BATIMENT.

At the Paris trade show in early October 2022, the programme of panel discussions will focus on four major themes, as follows.

  • Protecting the Climate and the Environment: We are reminded of the urgency of combating global warming every day. Warnings from experts and the dramatic increase in the number of extreme weather events compel us to take our responsibilities seriously. The entire construction value chain must be transformed in order to curb its environmental impact and help preserve life on the planet.
  • Good City Living in 2050: By 2050, 70% of the world’s population will live in cities. What will cities and our lifestyles look like, by then? Imagining the city of 2050 requires us to address the numerous challenges already facing city dwellers.
  • Improving Ways of Working: Guiding the sector’s ecological transition, facilitating its successful digitalisation, safeguarding the industry’s business model, and improving productivity – in all these areas, the construction sector is under pressure. We must modernise our ways of working. This applies across the board: the organisation of work, production tools, the management of teams, marketing strategies and customer relations.
