Argos has confirmed it will be closing its branch in the Kingfisher shopping centre in Redditch this Friday.

Staff at the retailer have reportedly been offered alternative jobs in other Argos branches. A spokesperson for the Kingfisher shopping centre said the news was “disappointing” but “not unexpected” following Argos' takeover by Sainsbury's.

They added, “Negotiations with Argos have been ongoing for some time and whilst disappointing this news it is not unexpected in context with the group’s property strategy. We are already in discussions with a number of retailers interested in opening at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.”.

An Argos spokesperson said, "We have supported all colleagues in finding them alternative roles at neighbouring Argos stores."

The nearest Argos store is located two miles away from the Kingfisher centre at Abbey Retail Park.
