BHETA DIY and brushware sector director Andy Vaughan is the latest to leave the association in the wake of the defeated proposal to merge the association with the BJGF.
BHETA announced this morning that Mr Vaughan has left with immediate effect. His departure follows housewares director Pam Plant's resignation earlier this year, and the news that ceo David French will step down no later than the next agm.

The statement released by BHETA this morning says: "His departure from the association was agreed with the board following the restructuring of the board membership occasioned by the results of the recent egm." However, no other reasons for his departure are given, although DIY Week understands that the association will be recruiting a replacement DIY and brushware director.

Mr Vaughan originally joined the association in January 2005 in the then new role of commercial director, and later took on the role of DIY and brush sector director.

He said: "I would like to thank the BHETA members for all of their help and encouragement during my four and a half years at the association. I have enjoyed working with members to help develop and support their businesses and this has become even more important in the present economic conditions.

"I am looking forward to the next stage of my career and whilst things are at an early stage, I plan to remain active within the industry."

Will Jones has now taken up his role as Pam Plant's successor as BHETA housewares director.
